ChatGPT Can Browse the Web (Again)

OpenAI announced that it has restored web browsing capabilities to ChatGPT, using Microsoft’s Bing search engine. The feature is available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users beginning today, and is accessible when using GPT-4.

The real-time browsing capability means that ChatGPT is no longer limited to information that pre-dates September 2021.

ChatGPT allowed web browsing before but temporarily disabled that capability after encountering some problems with certain websites (notably, sites that used paywalls to block access). ChatGPT now identifies itself to websites and can be blocked or restricted by website owners using a robots.txt file.
