Google announced a new Generative AI service called virtual try-on for apparel. It’s a model trained on Google’s vast collection of shopping data, and it allows you to virtually try on clothing and apparel using a wide range of body types, shapes, and sizes.
Beginning today, US shoppers can “try on” women’s tops using the service. Google Shopping presents a selection of different models, and users can select the model that they feel most closely resembles their own appearance to see what the apparel might look like.
There’s no word on when the service will expand beyond women’s tops or be available in other countries, but it’s an impressive step forward in bringing the critical “try on” experience to online apparel shopping.
